Consumed

img_0496This sea of water blackened with blood
The permeating smell of iron rising off of its surface
Velvety, dark obsidian waves
Timed in perfect synchronization
Hoards of snakes slivering and splashing
Tipped off to their prey nearing
Sitting in a small canoe
Pushing with each strenuous row
Through the veil so misleading
Reluctant that I will reach my destination
Against these waters that have past swallowed me whole
Perilous and turbulent in their nature
And waiting to submerge me
Through my own deluded false hopes
I will conquer these tides
These serpents swarming
And reach the other side
These bites will heal
The venom will bleed out
The shore under my feet
And that sea far behind
